Kathy Clausing-Willis is Vice President/Chief Development Officer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Clausing-Willis is responsible for the charitable entity for LMH, the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association, LMH Volunteer Services, and Liaison to Long-term Care Facilities the development of business relationships for the hospital in the service area. She has extensive experience in not-for-profit strategic planning, volunteer and board development, policy development and most aspects of charitable giving.
Prior to joining LMH, Clausing-Willis served for 10 years as the Vice President of Development for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, a Continuing Care Retirement Community, where she provided leadership for the organization to realize over $35 million in charitable gifts. During her over 20-year career she has provided leadership, development and management consultant services to long-term care facilities and several other not-for-profit organizations.
Clausing-Willis holds a bachelor's degree in Social Welfare and a master's degree in Business Administration. She has attended extensive local, regional and national professional development seminars.
She is active in many professional, civic and community organizations, including the Association of Health Care Philanthropy and is a member of the Douglas County Red Cross Board of Directors. She is also a Leadership Lawrence graduate.
Melissa Hess is the Major Gifts Officer for the LMH Endowment Association. She graduated in 2000 from Emporia State University with a BOS in Health Promotion. In 2004, Melissa graduated with a MSEd in Health from the University of Kansas. Before joining LMH, Melissa worked at the National Kidney Foundation Serving Kansas and Western Missouri. While at the National Kidney Foundation, Melissa was responsible for the childhood obesity prevention programs and the local US Transplant Games team. She also helped to create and develop a happy hour series of fundraisers that were focused on recruiting young professionals to become a part of the NKF. Melissa is responsible for cultivating relationships with current and potential friends of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Tracy joined the Endowment Association in January 2008 as the Support Specialist. Before joining LMH, Tracy was the Office Manager for CSC Construction and Development Co. overseeing the day to day finance and accounting operations. Prior to that, she was the Office Manager and Assistant to the VP of Finance and Operations at Checkdate Solutions in Lenexa, Ks for 7 years. Tracy's duties as support specialist for the Endowment include accounting, record keeping and general organization of the Association.
Sarah Smith is the Development Specialist for the Endowment Association and is responsible for the annual giving aspect of the organization. Special events are the core of Sarah’s job duties. You will find her overseeing committees for the Hearts of Gold Ball, Penny Jones Golf Tournament, Employee Campaign, Small Town BIG CAUSE 5K run/walks and much more. Sarah graduated from Kansas State University in 2003 where she majored in Fashion Merchandising and Design. Sarah previously worked for the Endowment Association from 2005 to 2008, before leaving LMH to work at Dish Network, LLC. There, she was responsible for providing product knowledge and sales skills training to their corporate partners. Sarah returned to LMH in February of 2012 and is excited to be back at home!
Carrie Edwards is the Planned Giving Specialist for the LMH Endowment Association. Carrie holds a B.S. Degree in Accounting and Marketing from Kansas State University. In 2007 she graduated with a M.B.A. in Finance from University of Missouri-Kansas City. Prior to LMH, Carrie worked for Capacity Builders as a Project Administrator in the Kansas City area. At Capacity Builders she helped establish development departments and helped oversee fundraising efforts for multiple area non-profits. Carrie also is the Executive Director of a private charitable foundation. Her responsibility includes cultivating relationships with individuals for current and deferred planned gifts to LMH and LMH Endowment Association.
