Staff

Kathy Clausing is Vice President/Chief Development Officer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Clausing is responsible for the charitable entity for LMH, the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association, LMH Volunteer Services, and Liaison to Long-term Care Facilities the development of business relationships for the hospital in the service area. She has extensive experience in not-for-profit strategic planning, volunteer and board development, policy development and most aspects of charitable giving.

Prior to joining LMH, Clausing served for 10 years as the Vice President of Development for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, a Continuing Care Retirement Community, where she provided leadership for the organization to realize over $25 million in charitable gifts. During her over 20-year career she has provided leadership, development and management consultant services to long-term care facilities and several other not-for-profit organizations.

Clausing holds a bachelor's degree in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas and a master's degree in Business Administration from Friends University in Wichita. She has attended extensive local, regional and national professional development seminars and is a 1994 graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute.

She is active in many professional, civic and community organizations, including the Association of Health Care Philanthropy, the Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy, the Eastern Kansas Planned Giving Roundtable, and the Association of Fund Raising Executives. She is a 2000 Leadership Lawrence graduate and was selected by her class to serve on the Leadership Lawrence Board of Directors. She is an active volunteer for Junior Achievement, Church, participant with Kansas Health Foundation Leadership Institute, Kiwanis, United Way, PTO, and Kansas Commission for National and Community Service.


Heather Ackerly is the Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager for the LMH Endowment Association. She joined the Endowment Association as a Campaign Coordinator in February 2006. Before joining LMH, Heather worked at the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Kansas City Film Office. While at the Chamber, she worked with new and existing business and coordinated Government Affairs activities. As director of the Kansas City Film Office, Heather marketed the Kansas City region as a filming location to the entertainment industry and helped facilitate film productions in the region. Heather graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in English. Heather’s duties include grant coordination and preparation, major gift solicitations, business-to-business activities and public relations.

Sarah Smith is the Development Specialist for the LMH Endowment Association. She joined the Endowment Association in November of 2005 as a Support Specialist. She graduated in 2003 from Kansas State University with a BOS in Apparel and Textile Marketing and Design. Sarah's duties include coordination of the Endowment's annual events such as Stepping Out Against Breast Cancer, The Penny Jones Open, Employee Campaign Activities and the bi-annual Hearts of Gold Ball.

Tracy Brosseit joined the Endowment Association in January 2008 as the Support Specialist. Before joining LMH, Tracy was the Office Manager for CSC Construction and Development Co. overseeing the day to day finance and accounting operations. Prior to that, she was the Office Manager and Assistant to the VP of Finance and Operations at Checkdate Solutions in Lenexa, Ks for 7 years. Tracy’s duties as support specialist for the Endowment include accounting, record keeping and general organization of the Association.
