Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, Douglas County Community Foundation, Private Donor and LMH Endowment Association Partner to Fund Forensic Imaging System

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, the Douglas County Community Foundation and a private donor, Audrey Bishop, along with the LMH Endowment Association have donated funds to purchase a Secure Digital Forensic Imaging (SDFI) system for the LMH Emergency Department. The system is used to document and collect evidence in sexual assault and physical abuse cases.

“We are so grateful for the support that the (Douglas County) Community Foundation and the District Attorney’s office and Audrey Bishop have given to provide for this equipment and service to our community,” said Kathy Clausing-Willis, Vice President and Chief Development Officer, LMH Endowment Association. “While we never want to have to use this equipment, we are so thankful that LMH now has it.”

LMH would be the first hospital in the northeast Kansas and Kansas City region to use the SDFI system. Developed on the West Coast, this system allows for the capture of sharper and higher quality documentation of evidence. The SDFI system also has high level data encryption which secures the evidence collected. This equipment will be used by LMH’s 12 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners when evaluating patients who have experienced sexual and/or physical abuse.

“We have always taken very serious our responsibility to patients who have suffered a trauma of any kind,” said Joan Harvey, Director of the LMH emergency department. “This equipment will provide us with the latest technology and supplement the already outstanding care that LMH provides everyone who comes through our doors.”
