Reasons to Give
Why should you give to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association (LMHEA)?
1. To Care for People
Your husband, your neighbor, your child or your best friend- everyone will probably use the services of Lawrence Memorial Hospital at some point. The money you donate to LMHEA is used to support the services provided by LMH. LMH is proud to serve the health care needs of everyone in the region.
2. To Help People in Need
In 2009, LMH provided over $7.2 million in FREE community services, touching 51,000 lives. This includes $2. 4 million that LMH contributed to Health Care Access and its patients. The Help and Healing Fund provided over $7,800 in prescriptions, walkers, and other needed medical equipment to individuals in need.
3. To Keep Our Community Strong
LMH has served the healthcare needs of the Lawrence and Douglas County region for over 88 years. Started with a philanthropic gift from Elizabeth Watkins, LMH has been fortunate to receive overwhelming support from the community. In turn, Lawrence works hard to be a strong community partner with area companies, social service agencies and other organizations. Many people don’t know that while LMH is a city-owned hospital, it is not funded in any way with city or county tax dollars.
LMHEA’s goal is to support and enhance the services currently offered by LMH and to help the hospital grow as the needs of the community grow. It is through the generosity of people like you that we are able to support LMH.
