2010 Hearts of Gold Ball May 1st

The 2010 Hearts of Gold Ball will be held on May 1st at the O?Malley Beverage building
beginning at 6:00 in the evening.

Ardith Pierce, Connie Sollars and Ann McQueeney will be co-chairing the LMH Endowment Association Hearts of Gold Ball on May 1 at the O’Malley Beverage building. Individual tickets are $125 and table sponsors, which accommodate 10 guests, are $1,500. 750 community members are estimated to attend and enjoy an evening full of entertainment, fun and good will.

The Hearts of Gold is a bi-annual event that was created in 1999 to benefit the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association.

This event has a history of success. Proceeds from the past Hearts of Gold events have been seed money for the development of the oncology unit, the creation of the Bob Billing’s cardiac evaluation unit, expansion of the emergency department and specialized equipment for the Special Care Nursery. The proceeds from the 2010 ball will benefit Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s cardiovascular services.

The theme for 2010 is “The Beat Goes On.” The event will strive to raise funds for specialized equipment that will facilitate the cardiac care’s services to its patients. Some examples of the equipment include:

• The Holter System is a portable EKG that a patient wears for a 24-48 hour period. This system enables physicians to monitor cardiac activity on an outpatient basis.

• The Q-Stress Test is a medical treadmill that is used to administer cardiac stress tests. This equipment displays patients’ heart functions and alerts physicians to cardiac abnormalities.

• Other needed specialized equipment range from $11,000 to $500,000 that will further enable physicians to monitor and treat patient’s cardiac issues more closely.
