Lawrence Memorial Hospital President and CEO Gene Meyer has received a letter from HIMSS Analytics, the national benchmarking organization for electronic medical record adoption.
The letter praised LMH for achieving the Stage 6 designation of the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model. The highest stage is seven.
Out of 5,000 hospitals, only 108 have reached that level.
“We believe that Stage 6 hospitals are well positioned to be successful with achieving the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act goals, measurements, and funding through 2013,” H. Stephen Lieber, HIMSS Analytics president and CEO, said in the letter.
Meyer said he hoped the hospital would receive federal funding to help reimburse the costs. He also joked during Wednesday's Board of Trustee meeting, “We are either on the cutting edge or bleeding edge. We are not sure yet.”
