Perry-Lecompton cheerleaders donate to LMH

Published on November 03, 2015

Members of the Perry-Lecompton High School cheerleading squad raised funds during October, breast cancer awareness month. The girls recently visited Lawrence Memorial Hospital to present the funds they raised. Kristin Gantz, cheerleading coach at Perry-Lecompton High School, and members of her squad heard about the LMH Endowment Association’s Rock the Block-Kick Cancer event on the radio.

The girls and their coach were inspired.

So they teamed up with Sabetha High School cheerleaders to host a fundraiser, "Kaws for a Cure: Tackle Cancer."

During the Oct. 2 game between the schools, the two squads went into the stands, asking fans to donate to promote breast cancer awareness month.

Following a recent check presentation at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the cheerleaders toured Mario’s Closet, which sells items for oncology patients, as well as members of the public, and the hallway leading to LMH Oncology so they could directly see the impact of their caring gesture.

Many thanks to these caring and sharing girls!
