Babies born at LMH benefit from Altrusa club's gift of books
Members of Altrusa of Lawrence visited Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Sept. 8 to present a book to the youngest member of the David and Dan Dan Gaus family.
Since 2001, club members have donated about 1,000 books each year to LMH babies. Altrusa hopes to encourage reading at an early age.
Altrusa club members making the presentation are, far left, Valeita Williams, who co-chairs the Born to Read service project, and Karen Wycoff, far right, who is the club's president-elect. Pictured with their parents, David and Dan Dan Gaus, are Alexander, 2; David Jr., who was born Sept. 6; and Theodore, 6.
